Cogswell-Macy Act

 Social Security and Medicare funding was one of the key points in the recent presidential debate. Why wait until November? We can act today to save over $600 billion in what will be lost revenue, by passing the Cogswell-Macy Act. This bipartisan act assures accountability in preparing over 1.3 million school-age children with vision loss, deafness, or both, an appropriate education. An education that prepares them for work. Their combined contributions to income tax, Social Security, and Medicare over a lifetime will exceed half a trillion dollars—all lost, if their education fails them.

 What can you do? Call your senator and representative at  (202) 224-3121 to demand their support for this legislation. The Cogswell-Macy Act will put in place the accountability necessary to make sure students with vision or hearing loss, get an education that prepares them for employment and a lifetime of contributions to Social Security and Medicare.
